Shopping in Milan Itinerary

Italy tourism incoming

San Babila square via Monte Napoleone via S. Andrea via della Spiga via Manzoni towards La Scala theatre.Fashion quadrilateral in Milan
The "fashion quadrilateral".

From piazza San Babila the shopping route proceeds along the via Monte Napoleone (2), that was called the "salon of Milan" during the '50s and was considered as an alternative to the Gallery. Then the fashion industry developed in Milan and Monte Napoleone has become a Mecca of international shopping-pilgrimage. Among all the prestigious fashion shops we can mention Valentino, Gianni Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo and Gucci. Other interesting art shops are Venini (glass objects) and G. Lorenzi (knives, tobacco).
The various
transversals of via Monte Napoleone offer numerous boutiques and interesting shops of haute-couture. We proceed our itinerary towards via S. Andrea (3), where Giorgio Armani attracts so many people. Missoni (haute-couture), Fendi (clothing and fur), Trussardi (high society clothing) and Moschino (high design fashion clothing) are some of the other boutiques in this street. Saint Andrew's is a prestigious restaurant English club-style in the neighborhood.

Via della Spiga

The transversals of this passageway are a must and among the numerous boutiques you can also pay a visit to the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi (Renaissance collection) or the Museo di Milano (history of Milan).

The itinerary finishes with the via Manzoni (5) towards the piazza della Scala (6) where the famous Teatro alla Scala displays major operas and plays.

Around the Duomo, the heart of the city of Milan, the most attractive commercial events have developed already from antique times. Close to the Duomo, at the piazza dei Mercanti, merchants displayed any type of product already from the Middle Ages. Today the portals, the Gallery and the adjacent streets are a nuclear of shops.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II
is the most popular shopping street of Milan. It is a following-up of beautiful and eccentric shops of various kinds, cinemas and cafés. It always has been a walking passage, (and thanks to the galleries also under the rain). Today it is a zone free of cars. The Corso mouths into the piazza San Babila (1). In this square you can find the famous Fiorucci store offering design products, branch clothing and eccentric articles. Also the principal store of United Colors of Benetton is a popular shop at this square where the most complete ladies, men and children clothing lines are available. Other shops include Boggi (men's wear) and Valextra  (design valises, bags and handbags).

The via
S. Andrea mouths into the via della Spiga (4), a small passageway parallel to via Monte Napoleone. Today it is a whole world dedicated to fashion clothing. When walking through this street you can bump up to beautiful women, models, sometimes a stylist and many a tourist. Via della Spiga has a particular atmosphere and shops such as Gianfranco Ferré (Prêt-à-porter), Krizia (haute-couture), Prada (shoes, leatherwear, clothing) and Tod's Hogan (sportswear and shoes) have their location here.
